To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, ScienceChina has organized renowned scientists in various fields of science and technology to write an article reviewing the rapid development and outstanding achievements in the field of science and technology in China. As the first author and corresponding author, Professor Huang Jianping, director of the Collaborative Innovation Center of Western Ecological Security Province and Ministry, school of Atmospheric Sciences, Lanzhou University, co-authored the review article "Atmospheric Science Research in China since the Founding of New China 70 years ago: Climate and Climate Change" with other 6 authors.
Since the founding of the People's Republic of China 70 years ago, China's achievements in all fields of atmospheric science have attracted worldwide attention, and Chinese scientists have made many outstanding achievements in the field of climate and climate change. Review article first introduced the important progress in climate research field, and then combed the qinghai-tibet plateau, monsoon and atmospheric activity center and the westerlies influence on Chinese climate, climate dynamics and climate pattern of development, the important progress in aspects of climate change research, and finally, the existing results are summarized, and prospective scientific problems are put forward.
This paper is required reading for graduate students in atmospheric science, and is also available for study and reference by graduate students in relevant majors and those engaged in atmospheric science and climate change.
